Rules and Regulations

1. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

1.01.
All players submitting entries for this tournament will be deemed to have read, understood, and accepted the conditions under which the tournament events are to be conducted.

1.02.
Competitors play at their own risk.

1.03.
The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the WTBF Generic Polices, Sport Injury and Risk Management, Standards & WTBF Player Grading System as adopted by WTBF, followed by the Laws of Badminton, General Competition Regulations & Player Code of Conduct as adopted by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), except where modified by these conditions.

1.04.
The Chief Referee and WTBF Jury shall have the entire control and management of the tournament and will adjudicate on all matters relating to these conditions, adopted WTBF policy and adopted BWF Laws, Regulations & Codes of Conduct.

1.05. Applying correct age category
Applicants must provide correct information and is responsible for the arrangement of any problems that arise. Applicants need to submit an official ID to prove their age, if any complaints made by other players.

The WTBF Tournament Jury reserves the right to reject or re-grade any entry and may cancel an event if insufficient entries are received.

1.06.
Players who enter doubles as ‘partner required’ must update their online entry prior to the closing date of entries if they have arranged a partner for the event. When the tournament entries close, the WTBF tournament Jury will assign any available players to those who are without partners. The decision of the WTBF tournament Jury will be final.

1.07.
Entrants consent to the collection of their details and image by the WTBF tournament Jury and understand that such information may be passed onto and used by WTBF. Entrants acknowledge their right to access and correct such information.

1.08.
Men’s Singles Open Masters Category was introduced in 6th WTBT to encourage new participants/youngsters. It is a semi-advanced or intermediate level of competition. The Men’s Singles Open category was renamed as Men Singles Open Gold which is the advanced level of competition and will be awarded with Cash Prize. In the same manner, Men’s Double Open Masters was introduced in 7th WTBT. We are highly recommending the participants to register for an appropriate category based on your competency.

1.09. International Category
Men’s Singles Open International Category was introduced in 8th WTBT and now Men’s doubles Open International Category is introduced in 9th WTBT. It’s opened to anyone except Tamils and only upto 24 Participants. First come first served. All other categories are exclusive for Tamil players.

1.10. Merging Events

1.10.1 
Open Master and Open GOLD: If there are not enough entries, could be conducted as one event.

1.10. 2
The WTBF have the right to merge one or more categories into a single category when a smaller number of participants are registered for any of the planned categories.

1.12. Closing Date

1.12.1 Entries will be closed on 02nd of June 2024 23:59 hours (Sri Lankan Time). No late entries will be accepted.

1.12.2 Players who are not living in Sri Lanka may submit their entry only through http://www.tournamentsoftware.com.  Players who need help for online entry, may contact our support Hotline +41 77 972 87 71 (WhatsApp available)

1.12.3 Players who are living in Sri Lanka may submit their entry only through Google form. Sri Lankan players may have a qualifying tournament depend on the number of 

1.13.

Entries will be published within 48hours on http://www.tournamentsoftware.com.  It is the responsibility of the entrant to check their entry and report any errors to the WTBF tournament Online-Entry Support Hotline +41 77 972 87 71 (WhatsApp available) before the closing date. 

1.14.
Draws will be published on http://www.tournamentsoftware.com on 29.07.2024

1.15. Entry Fee.
Entry fee for each single disciplines – except U-disciplines (U11-U17) – is 35.00 CHF. Entry fee for all other discipline is 30.00 CHF per participant and discipline.

2. PLAYING THE TOURNAMENT
2.01. Walk-over
Players are required to report to the tournament office at the venue 15 minutes before the scheduled match. The match will start on scheduled time, if any player failed to appear will be given walk-over.

2.02.
Players will be given maximum of 10 minutes rest before starting another match.

2.03.
If needed umpires will be appointed by the tournament chief referee.

2.04.
Enquiries regarding starting times of matches are the responsibility of entrants. The timetable for the event will also be published. on http://www.tournamentsoftware.com website.

2.05.
The Referee has the power to disqualify any player not available to play when called to do so. Any alterations made to the competition schedule due to unforeseen circumstances will be announced by the Referee.

2.06.
Players will be given maximum of 2 minutes for warmup-time before the match starts.

2.07.
The shuttle (Li-Ning SG Gold Speed 76) will be provided by WTBF.

2.08.
The WTBF tournament Jury has the right to reject admission to any person or group of persons for the smooth and safe conduct of the whole event.

2.09 Group matches
All group matches will be conduct without a referee.  Both players should discuss and decide in and out. Where it is not possible to determine whether it is inside or outside, it can be solved by re service. If someone continues to act unfairly, the WTBT arbitrator must be notified immediately. WTBT will send a referee to help to complete the game. 

2.10 
Both international disciplines (non-Tamils MS & MD) will be held in knockout format, but may be conduct as group stage depend on number of entries and court availability.

 

3. WTBF TOURNAMENT PARTICIPANTS & SPECTATOR BEHAVIOUR POLICY
3.01.

In addition to the WTBF’s code of conduct policy, our federation is committed to creating a safe, respectful and positive atmosphere in which players, officials, members and families can thrive. Accordingly, all participants, parents or guardians of junior players are committed to the following behaviours:

3.02.
Respect the referee’s decisions – don’t complain or argue about decisions during or after a game.

3.03.
Unsportsmanlike language, harassment or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated.

3.04.
Encourage players to play by the rules and to respect opposition players and officials.

3.05.
Condemn all violent or illegal acts, whether they are by players, coaches, officials, parents or spectators.

3.06.
Understand that sport is part of a total life experience, and the benefits of involvement go far beyond the final score of a game.

3.07.
Participate in positive cheering that encourages the players in the team you are supporting; do not engage in any cheering that taunts or intimidates opponents, their fans or officials.

3.08.
Remember that children participate for their own enjoyment, not yours!

3.09.
At all times, follow the directions of the WTBF duty officials.

4. DRESS REGULATIONS.
4.01.
Acceptable sport clothing suitable for Badminton/Tennis must always be worn whilst competing.

4.02.
Advertising on clothing is acceptable subject to BWF Rules.

4.03.
Footwear must be acceptable Badminton/Tennis type and be non-marking.

4.04.
Acceptability of dress shall be at the discretion of the Chef Referee.
